Tabrez has over 20 years of diverse experience in legal practice, marketing, public policy and macro-economy to bring upswing in business through policy intervention. He advised top-notch CEOs in India and US from pharmaceutical, biotech, medical device/equipment, healthcare, software, telecom, electronics, e-business, agribusiness, media and entertainment industries on state, federal and international policies and regulations for compliant business operation.
He was Secretary General of Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India. Before joining OPPI, he was Director IP at Microsoft Corporation. Prior to that he did research on intellectual property rights in emerging economies at George Washington University, Washington DC.
He also worked at FICCI and headed the technology, IPR and BISNET departments. He actively contributed many path breaking policies and Acts – Double taxation, Withholding tax treaties, H1B visa, IT Act, National Telecom Policy, Number portability, Innovation policy, Data protection and privacy, Broadband policy, IP laws etc. He also promoted Indian tech business in Japan, UK, Germany, France, Sweden, Latvia, Saudi Arabia, Dubai, Sharjah, Abu Dhabi, Oman, and ASEAN countries with union ministers.
He engaged with regulators, government departments, enforcement agencies and intl. institutions like DCGI, CDSCO, TRAI, RBI, SEBI, CCI, BIS, excise, custom, police, CBI, CVC, public prosecutors, judiciary, CERT-IN, NIC, NIXI, NSA, WHO, WIPO, UNIDO etc.

He did MCA from Bharat University-Chennai, MBA from Indian Institute of Foreign Trade-New Delhi and LLM from George Washington University-Washington DC.
